Built for the heat
Summer afternoons here regularly top 100°F. Shade structures, lighter concrete and drip-watered, low-water plants keep a backyard usable in July, not just in April.
From newer homes in Anatolia and Sunridge to older lots off Folsom Boulevard, David designs and builds yards that hold up to Rancho Cordova summers. His crew has already worked right next door in Mather.

Many Rancho Cordova homes came with a basic lawn and a small slab. That is a clean start for a full yard: patio, shade, planting and lighting planned together instead of piece by piece.
Swapping a thirsty lawn for turf or low-water planting cuts mowing and watering. That is exactly what Victor in Mather had done, and he posted about it.

Rancho Cordova protects native oaks under its tree ordinance (Municipal Code, Chapter 19.12). Removing or majorly trimming a protected tree, or trenching, grading or filling inside its dripline, needs a City tree permit first. Not sure if your tree counts? Rancho Cordova is split between several water providers, so rebates depend on your street. Sacramento County Water Agency's Cash for Grass program is on hold until further notice. Look up your provider before you plan around a rebate, and never remove grass before a program approves your project.Source: Sacramento County Water Agency: Cash for Grass
Newer neighborhoods often have HOA design review for front yards, patio covers and artificial turf. DG Landscape Design's drawn plans and renders make that submittal straightforward.
Last checked September 2026. Programs and rules change; confirm with the agency before you start.

It depends on your water provider. Sacramento County Water Agency's Cash for Grass program is currently on hold. If your provider has a program, get approval before any grass comes out; most rebates are not retroactive.
For a protected native oak, yes: trenching, grading or filling inside its dripline needs a City tree permit first. David plans patios, walls and irrigation around root zones from the start.
